Our Board meets on Monday evenings in Week 3 and Week 8 each term. Board meetings start at 5 pm and are held in the staffroom. Board meetings are open to the public; members of the school and wider community are welcome to attend.

What the board does

A board is responsible for the governance of the school. The board:

sets the strategic direction and targets for the school or kura
develops policies and procedures
consults with the community to make decisions
oversees curriculum, finance, property, and health and safety
employs staff at the school or kura

The board must comply with the Education and Training Act 2020 (the Act) and all other legislative requirements.

The Act sets out the paramount and supporting objectives for boards. These cover:

educational achievement (paramount objective)
student attendance
monitoring and evaluation of student progress and achievement
student safety
being inclusive of and catering for students with differing needs
equitable outcomes for Māori students, teaching te reo Māori and New Zealand's cultural diversity.

The principal oversees the day-to-day management of the school and follows the direction of the board to make sure the school’s goals are met.

The objectives of boards in governing schools are set out in section 127 of the Education and Training Act 2020 and were changed in November 2025.
